Tefillah

 
At the heart of our Jewish experience is our Tefillah program. The RZJHS tefillah program helps students build a meaningful connection to tefillah through routine, intentionality, community, and a deep understanding of the tefillot. We engage students through traditional and creative approaches, fostering personal as well as communal connection to tefillah. 

Students will cultivate a deep understanding of tefillah's purpose and emotional power, enabling diverse practices to become genuine pathways for spiritual connection.
 
In order to reach our goals, we are driven by four main pillars:
  • קבע/Keva/routine: Cultivating a connection to tefillah through its everyday practice, as well as becoming habituated to the rhythms of tefillah.
  • כוונה/Kavanah/intentionality: Fostering an environment where students find personal connection and spiritual engagement in tefillah.
  • קהילה/Kehillah/community: Building a tefillah community that honors the unique value of each member's voice, and nurtures shared responsibility for our RZJHS community.
  • הבנה/Havanah/understanding: Enabling students to understand the tefillot and their structure, so that they can participate fully in any tefillah space.
