My name is Coby Halpern, and I am a sophomore at RZJHS. I am writing to share with you my experience at Rochelle Zell as someone who graduated from Solomon Schechter. Personally, I found the transition from Schechter to RZ to be a smooth one. I knew a lot of people from Schechter in both my grade and upper grades that helped me adapt to my new environment, but there were also many amazing people from other schools to meet. In fact, some of my best friends came from other middle schools.
The community at RZ is like no other. Even though I made great friends in high school, I would have to say that an aspect of Rochelle Zell I appreciate the most is how approachable and connected the teachers and administrators are to the students. If I ever have an issue or question, whether school-related or not, I always feel comfortable approaching my teachers for help. I think the reason RZJHS transitioned so well from in-person school to online and later a hybrid system during the pandemic is because the staff genuinely cares for its students and its programs. Also, there are a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities at school. With clubs such as STAND and DEAP, student councils, Israel Club, and Spikeball Club, and electives such as Model UN, broadcasting, yearbook, and computer science, you will always have the opportunity to do more of the things you love, try new ones, and be invested in your community!
I hope to see all of you next year!
