Mazal tov to Yali Derman (CJHS ’09) for being honored as one of Chicago’s Double Chai in the Chi! http://www.oychicago.com/36under36/bio36-2020.aspx?id=29577&cid=20373

Yali serves as a pediatric oncology nurse practitioner at Lurie Children’s Hospital, the same hospital that took care of her when she was a cancer patient. Yali is also an artist who created her own line of handbags under the label "Yali's Carry On Collection," a philanthropic handbag company. The proceeds have benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation and have funded a play space at Lurie's Children's Hospital.

Over a Zoom call, we sit down with 2020 team captains, seniors Maytal Meisler and Betsy Winick, along with faculty advisors Mr. Dale Griffith and Ms. June Kramer to learn a bit more about the program.

Representing Saudi Arabia, Rochelle Zell Jewish High School students won the following team awards (both awards are the highest team awards given in their respective categories):

• Team Conference Award of Distinction (the highest team award given at the conference)

• Research and Preparation Award of Distinction (one of only three such awards given at the conference)
