2009 Alumni honored as one of Chicago's Double Chai in the Chi

Mazal tov to Yali Derman (CJHS ’09) for being honored as one of Chicago’s Double Chai in the Chi! http://www.oychicago.com/36under36/bio36-2020.aspx?id=29577&cid=20373

Yali serves as a pediatric oncology nurse practitioner at Lurie Children’s Hospital, the same hospital that took care of her when she was a cancer patient. Yali is also an artist who created her own line of handbags under the label "Yali's Carry On Collection," a philanthropic handbag company. The proceeds have benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation and have funded a play space at Lurie's Children's Hospital.

This spring, we were fortunate to host Yali at a virtual Friday tefillah, where Yali offered beautiful words of Torah about Parashat Tazria-Metzora. Click here to see her dvar Torah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-sMBwrleJY
