Peter Roothaan holds a BA from Northeastern University and has appeared nationwide as a jazz saxophonist at major jazz clubs and festivals. He has performed with such jazz luminaries as singers Nancy Wilson and Freddie Cole, saxophonists David “Fathead” Newman, Bennie Golson and James Moody, organist Chris Foreman, guitarist Henry Johnson, and many others.


In addition to performing, Mr. Roothaan maintains a teaching studio where he teaches saxophone, clarinet, flute, and piano, focusing on both instrumental technique and joyful self-expression through music composition and improvisation.


Mr. Roothaan’s teaching focus is on developing in students a lifelong love of music and music creation, and fostering a special sense of community in group music making.
